Or should that be called Landscaping Tips - Here are some of the ones we have come across:
Landscaping can be used to prevent or solve many problem areas around your home or property.

  • Use climbing vines or bushy shrubs to hide an oil tank or other structures you wish to screen.
  • Garden paths should be designed in a meandering fashion without using many straight lines or squared corners. Create a winding path that travels around the entire garden.
  • When designing a rock garden, use plants that are drought resistant and remember to plant them in a sunny area.
  • You can use low voltage lights suspended from tree limbs, arches, on poles to pick out garden focal points.
  • Plant a hedgerow or erect an attractive fence if you need more privacy in your garden.
  • Think about planting for security. Plants that you might consider are hollies, rose bushes, pyracantha or hawthorn. The bigger the thorns or prickles, the more intimidating the plant is to criminals and the more likely intruders are to seek an easier target.
  • Create quite seating areas as it makes the garden instantly more inviting. A quiet area in the garden can be as simple as a small bench placed under a tree or a few chairs surrounded by irises.
  • Choose flowering and evergreen ground covers such as periwinkle or wintergreen on slopes that face your home. This will provide a pleasant view in all seasons.
  • One mistake that people make when landscaping is not checking how plants will look at maturity. Tiny shrubs from the nursery could grow to massive heights. Large shrugs planted too near your house could crack your foundation
  • Creeping phlox is attractive cascading over old walls and is available as white, pink or violet flow
  • Plant shade-loving hostas around tables or seating areas. The variegated hosta varieties are particularly attractive and make a beautiful shaded background to any barbeque.
  • Landscaping can be time consuming and physically demanding so you should consider hiring professional landscape help for jobs and tasks that are especially difficult, time consuming or need special training.
