Paving comes in all shapes, forms and colours. There is an enormous range available from local builders merchant and a price range to match. What you chose really comes down to purpose of the paving required i.e. paths, terraces, driveways, patios, steps, small walls, other hard standing areas for summerhouses etc.

Your preference for the finished appearance, together with your budget available will have an influence on your choice. You can use products and colours that complement or contrast with your home and surroundings.

From natural materials such as York stone or slate, natural stone blocks also known as setts, to cobblestones, gravel or bark. Or perhaps you prefer manufactured materials such as concrete flags or slabs, concrete patio stones, block pavers, clay brick paving, coloured patterned concrete or just a plain concrete hard standing if you just need a base for your garden shed or other garden structure.

Of course you could also consider using a decorative edging to finish off paths and borders etc. You can choose from a range of traditional, like rope edge or Victorian or a contemporary range, such as round or contoured. You should also consider the use of decorative aggregates as these can be striking or subtle and help keep weeds at bay.

Look at gardening or home magazines or books for sources of inspirations of what can be used and the different affects that can be created in your own garden
